Planning a PPM with a professional mover
If you are doing a PPM, follow your branch’s rules and your transportation office’s guidance. In general:
- Get your PPM approved before you move. Start your move request through the Department of Defense personal property system and talk to your transportation office (TMO) or Personal Property Office.
- Understand your weight allowance. Your reimbursement is based on your entitlement, so ask your transportation office for your estimate.
- Get weight tickets. You will usually need certified empty and full weight tickets for the vehicle that carries your belongings. Ask us how we handle weigh tickets for your move.
- Keep every receipt. Save your mover’s invoice, packing material receipts and storage receipts for your claim.
- Submit your claim on time after you arrive at your new duty station.
